Praised for their “virtuosity, visceral expression, and rare unity of intention” by the Boston Globe, the Viano String Quartet is one of the most sought-after performing young ensembles today, having won First Prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition and currently in residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Bowers Program. They are joined on stage by one of the world’s most celebrated classical guitarists, MILOŠ, in a program exploring themes of migration and immigration, with works by Vivaldi, Piazzolla, The Beatles, and more.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Since winning First Prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Viano String Quartet has traveled to nearly every major city across the globe, captivating audiences in New York, London, Berlin, Vancouver, Paris, Beijing, Toronto, Lucerne, and Los Angeles. They have collaborated with world-class musicians such as pianists Emanuel Ax, Marc-André Hamelin, Inon Barnatan and Elisso Virsaladze, and violists Paul Coletti and Paul Neubauer. In addition to their career-defining achievement at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, they also received the Grand Prize at the 2019 ENKOR International Music Competition and second prize at the 2019 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition.
Performing alongside the Viano String Quartet is world-renowned classical guitarist MILOŠ. His career began its meteoric rise in 2011, with the release of his international best-selling Deutsche Grammophon debut album Mediterraneo. Since then, he has earned legions of fans, awards, and acclaim around the world through his extensive touring, six chart topping recordings and television appearances.
MILOŠ has appeared as a soloist with some of the world’s greatest orchestras: London and LA Philharmonics, Atlanta Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Santa Cecilia Rome and NHK Tokyo.
